New Zealand Food Costs Climb 0.7% In July

Food costs in New Zealand were up 0.7 percent on month in July, Stats New Zealand stated on Monday – up from 0.5 percent in June.

Vegetable prices rose 9.2 percent in the month, with higher prices for fresh lettuce (up 77 percent), tomatoes (up 30 percent), and broccoli (up 24 percent) making the biggest contributions.

On an annual basis, food prices leapt 1.1 percent after rising just 0.2 percent in the previous month.
